FR_ Fitra Riau Organized program outreach activities with all village officials, Village Consultative Body (BPD), Rukun Tetangga (RT), Rukun Warga (RW), community leaders and also women’s groups on Wednesday 08 March 2023 in Bonai Village. It can be seen that there were 26 participants who attended and were present following representatives from the police, Kambtimas for the Bonai Village area, the village head and a number of representatives of women’s groups
“We all know the facts about the conditions experienced by the producing villages. Here there are many oil wells, there are about a dozen wells operating under Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) management. However, after we look at the reality of the condition of producing villages there are various problems, one of which is access to education services which are still not fulfilled, road access has suffered a lot of damage, the community’s economy has actually declined compared to regions that do not produce oil and gas, many residents have an average income below 1 million and in fact many residents are not working (unemployed) plus crime and stunting rates are still found in producing areas. Said Taufik in his speech.
Taufik explained that this program is related to Optimizing the Utilization of Oil and Gas Profit Sharing Funds and Increasing Social Accountability “CSR”. where this program is designed with an implementation time of 15 months in the future. This program will later be directed at how the utilization of DBH-Oil and Gas can contribute to reducing poverty in oil and gas producing areas so that later this DBH-Oil and Gas can contribute as sustainable funding and have an impact on local communities.
The village government and community leaders conveyed the condition of their village which had educational problems that had to be fixed. Currently, the condition is that residents who want to send their children to junior and senior high schools must go to a farming village which is part of the Bengkalis district. In Bonai Village itself there is no adequate junior high school and high school available. Middle school schools ride with SD so we mention the one-roof school.
“We send our children to the next village which is also full of challenges, apart from the road conditions which are a challenge, educational facilities are also not available. the road conditions here are also very worrying, our children going to school often have accidents and die fatally due to the damaged roads with potholes. You can ask Mr. Kamtibmas that the accident rate in Bonai is also high.” Said Jondrizal, the Head of the Bonai Tribe, a Bonai Community Figure.
Taufik revealed that apart from focusing on village conditions in assisting and strengthening the capacity of village apparatus in the next 15 months, Fitra Riau will also focus on forming and strengthening women’s groups in the field of strengthening the MSME economy, both in terms of exploring the potential of village resources owned to assisting in forms of training and marketing.
“We do this for women’s groups, if there are no women’s groups then we will facilitate the formation of the group and we will also conduct training so that the objectives of this program can be realized as we hope in improving the welfare of communities around oil and gas producing areas by ensuring how improvement of several basic services, education, health and welfare to reduce inequality including building the economic independence of mothers (women’s groups)”.
